The Event

Being the 100th year of Amateur Radio activities in India, the HFI 2020 Vagamon, Kerala, expects a large number of Delegates. The exotic location of Vagamon adds to the value of the event

Hamfest India 2020 will be declared open at the special venue that will be built adjacent to the Indo-American HRD campus, Vagamon at 11 hours on 21st November and will be concluded after lunch on 22nd November. This will be an event for Radio Amateurs, organized by the Radio Amateurs. We will not waste time in formalities and we do not propose to invite outsiders for the inaugural function. The event will start with the invocation by a team of youngest call sign holders chosen from the delegates. The event will be professionally managed by a team of hand-picked Amateurs/SWLs.

Stalls are allowed from 9 AM to 9 PM on 21st and 9 AM to 4 PM on 22nd. The organizing team will be available at the venue from 20th morning until 23rd afternoon to support the Delegates for travel and accommodation related support. The local VHF repeaters and the call channel (145.500 MHz) will be live for coordination / support.

Delegate Registration

This is an important step. We request you to complete the online registration at the earliest. Early registrations will help the organizers to plan the event in a better manner. The registration fee is fixed at INR 1000 for a Radio Amateur (USD 25/Euro 23 for foreign Hams) and INR 800 for SWLs. For children below 12 years, the fee is limited to INR 500/-. On the spot registrations will cost INR 1500 per individual.

Kindly avoid attempting registrations without making the payment. Even in such a case, the system will capture your data and display it for a few weeks to enable you to come back and complete the online registration. Duplicate registrations will be removed by the registration administrator

OM Ravi, VU2RDN (Mob/WhatsApp: 81370 33755, Email: vu2rdn@gmail.com) will be the Administrator for HFI2020 registrations. Please get in touch with Ravi if you come across any problem regarding the online registration

Exhibition Stalls

HFI 2020 proposes to have elaborate exhibition/demo and sales stalls at the venue (Indo-American HRD Campus). There will be two separate areas – one for home-brew related demonstrations/exhibitions and the other exclusively for commercial equipment sales.

Stalls for commercial equipment will have a display rack behind, other than the table provided. The commercial equipment dealers presenting their products will be allotted lockable rooms right at the venue near the exhibition hall, considering safety of the items. If they prefer, they can stay there also. The sales exhibit area will be under CCTV surveillance. Charges for commercial stalls will be reasonable, in tune with the involved additional expenses for their safety and convenience.

All stalls on home-brew items either used for demo or sales will be totally FREE. Every home-brew exhibitor will be given the provision for guarded cloak-room service.

Those who intend to book a space may kindly write to the office coordinator  at vu2mje@gmail.com with a copy to the General Convenor at vu2phd@gmail.com. Please note that the members of the commercial stalls shall also get themselves registered as Delegates.

Site map will be published by 30th January 2010 and slots will be allocated on first-come-first- served basis.

Food, Accommodation and Transport

Many of our friends from Northern India have requested us to limit the food to genuine Vegetarian. We’ll honour this request.

Due to demand, if Non Veg has to be served, that will be in a physically separate counter, supplied by a totally different vendor.

The Association of the Resorts in Vagamon are closely working with our organizing team to extend cost-effective solutions for accommodation of Delegates. The responsibility of transportation to and from the venue will be taken by the resorts themselves. The links of these resorts will be provided on this website, not later than 15th January 2020.

For those who would like to stay on a boot strap/economy mode, limited dormitory accommodation is available at the venue itself at a cost of just Rs.300/- per night. Though no luxury can be expected here, it will be real fun to stay together and enjoy the late evenings. Dormitories will be allocated on a first-come-first basis for those who have completed the registration process successfully, including the payment. Request for dormitory accommodation has to be sent to: vu2mje@gmail.com  with a copy to the General Convenor at vu2phd@gmail.com, clearly quoting the HFI Registration Number. Please write “Dormitory” against the subject line of the e mail. If you have a specific request for accommodation as a Group of Friends, that specific request has to be made in the e mail, quoting the HFI registration number of each Delegate. OM Moncy, VU2MJE will take care of your requirements.
